Key: how to read a game card
−3.5 The spread, shown beside the favorite. o54.5 The total, the combined points line.
Spread play Our number disagrees with the spread. It shows the bet, like CAR +3, with the gap in points underneath.
Total play We project the combined score that many points over or under the total (the PT GAP).
Lean A gap too small to call a play. No play Nothing clears the bar, so we pass.
Copper-tinted card One of our strongest edges on the slate.
Simulate Runs the game thousands of times: win odds, average score, spread range. Why this pick Our reasoning in plain words. Props Player projections.
Picks are saved with a timestamp before kickoff and graded on the Tracker, wins and losses alike. Nothing is edited after a game starts.

Simulator
pick any two teams and play the game thousands of times
Every lined matchup receives a researched spread selection. Stronger gaps are marked separately for the tracked card — the main model never replaces a spread with a total.
Main model: spreads only. Every lined game gets a side. Natalie Brooks is the only CFB totals specialist, and she publishes only totals that clear her qualification rule.

Edge Finder
enter each book's line — we flag the soft ones
Reality check: our team model ties the closing spread (~50% ATS, backtested). So don't use this to "beat Vegas" on the number everyone sees. Use it to spot the soft book — when one book's line lags the others or the model, that specific stale number is the value. It's a line-shopping tool, not a crystal ball.

Player Props
volume-first projections · fully tunable
We project the sticky part (volume/role, proven predictable) and regress the noisy part (per-touch efficiency) to the mean, then adjust for the opponent's defense (EPA). Enter a book's prop line to flag an edge. Every knob is in the tuning panel — tweak to taste.

Coaching & Scheme
the lineage behind each offense — our early-season edge
A first-year coordinator runs the scheme and pace he learned from his tree before he has his own track record.
Stat-only models can't see that. This is where our projection gets its independence — especially in September.
How the model works
The projection
For each team we take last season's points (regressed toward the league mean, because small samples lie), combine it with the opponent's points allowed, then adjust for:
Pace — combined tempo of both offenses → more or fewer possessions.
Scheme — the coordinator's family (Reid, Shanahan, McVay, Air Raid…) carries a scoring bias.
2026 changes — a manual nudge for a new QB, coordinator, or major roster move.
Home field — worth about 1.3 points.
That yields projected points for each side → a total, a spread, and a win probability.
The edge
We never copy Vegas — we build our number first, then compare it to every book you enter:
Total edge flagged when our total differs from the book by 2.5+ points.
Spread edge flagged at 2.0+ points of disagreement.
Moneyline value flagged when our win probability beats the book's implied odds by 6%+.
With 10 books offering different numbers, the edge is finding the one that's softest on a given side.
Honest expectations (what we actually measured)
We backtested this on 6,700 real games (2000–2025) with closing lines. The verdict: our model picks straight-up winners at ~60% (better than a coin flip, below the ~66% you'd get just betting the favorite), and hits ~50% against the closing spread — i.e., no edge vs the sharpest number. Swapping in EPA didn't change it: the closing line already prices team efficiency. So we don't pretend to beat it. The real edges live in player props (softer markets, projectable volume) and line-shopping soft/early numbers across books. Anyone promising 70% ATS is selling you something.
What makes it independent
Most public models are just re-derived from last year's box scores — which means they echo the same info the books already priced in. Our coaching-tree/scheme layer gives us a view the market underweights early in the season, when personnel changed but the scheme lineage predicts how a new staff will actually play.
Beta
This tracker is in beta testing
The record below is being built in the open. Numbers may move as games grade and as the model is corrected — nothing here is a finished, audited track record yet.
Expert picks are graded against the locked line and the final score.
Losses stay on the board. Nothing is removed or re-picked after the fact.
Sample sizes are small early — treat them as such.
